A US Postal employee observed the gray Mercedes with New Jersey plates running outside the post office, located at 30 Corbin Drive, and alerted the police.
The employee allegedly witnessed a young male run across the parking lot from the outdoor depository area and enter the running Mercedes. The vehicle exited the lot and police arrived to check the area.
Though they were unable to locate the vehicle, police found a sticky, glue-like substance on the opening of the mailbox, which is consistent with “fishing:” a practice that uses a glue-covered substance to retrieve mail from the depository.
Officers also discovered the same gluey substance on the opening of the Heights Road Post Office mailbox.
